The Interpreter’s house 5: Audience research

Making a clear target audience is imperative thing to social media campaign. Even we are just beginning of our social media campaign. Our digital story is about stop motion, or Indian stop motion, we already staring to do some search of our target audiences.  This blog entry will give a  study about social media facts and Statistics.

A study undertaken by Jeff Bullas ( ) emphasizes the mobile the prevalence of social media in 2015.  The survey found that

  • There are just over 3 billion active Internet users (45% of the world’s internet users
  • Nearly 2.1 billion people have social media accounts
  • 3.65 billion mobile users have access to the internet via smartphones and tablets.

The other survey shows that online adult 71% use Facebook, 23% use Twitter and 26% use Instagram.(( by Pew Research Center.

Although our project are specific about indian, but I believe that stop motion is international. this topic is unlimited for any country’s audiences.

There are lager number of people use social network everyday. Such as Twitter and Facebook. we can do hashtag in twitter and Instagram and make a forum in Facebook, People can use mobile phone to find out some thing they are interested in.

Overall  the empirical evidence suggests that we are on the right way with using Facebook and Twitter for our social media campaign. Instagram should also as an another way to  promote our digital story because both Western and Asian people are very active users of social media.

Doubting castle 1: Flipped lecture

The lecture (

is a very basic introduction to the image editing software Photoshop and, Gimp.

Gimp As free software, I never use this software before and to be  honest I have no idea about this software,  but  the introduction of Gimp from Lenny’s lecture  It is remarkably powerful. The only drawback is that it is tendency to hide dialogue boxes behind working windows.

Free download Gimp from here

I did a quick research about Gimp. It  is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, resizing, cropping, photo-montages, converting between different image formats, and more specialized tasks. I think the best thing of this software is Free. I also search about the different between Gimp and Photoshop The primary difference between GIMP and Photoshop is the price.Gimp is absolutely free and open source software. The other different is Linux user and non-Linux user.

In the Jenny’s blog, she clearly introduce how to work on Gimp and Photoshop, the one thing motioned in the lecture is that how to safe the file, ‘Saving is more complex’. I know there are some different format of images ( png and gif and pdf etc ). but the one thing not mentioned in the lecture is that what different  types of format, such as PNG was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics, and therefore does not support non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK and  PDF is good format for printing. and it alway embedded documents on pages, but it is not offers used for images on the website.

Layers are the most important concept in editing images. ‘Any action which edits the actual image requires you to work with layers. If you don’t work with layers and do something you later want to undo , you may be able to undo’ by Lenny. I had similar experiences when I beginning use Photoshop to edit images, it is so annoying when I forget to make layers.

The other thing not mentioned about layers is that Photoshop provided different layers style and some layers is Free as well.   people also can download layers from this website.
